Welcome to ResearchingFamilyHistory.com - Research Your Family History and Family Tree.

Some typical family history records.
Researching your family history has never been more popular and can be a rewarding and absorbing hobby, it can also be one of the most frustrating and time consuming tasks you will ever undertake! If you have time on your hands, then I would recommend it to anyone. Researching your family tree is a voyage of discovery, a journey quite often full of surprises both good and sometimes not so good maybe.
I have always had a particularly keen interest in the past and of course a logical progression of that is to have an interest in your own history. I think every family has stories passed down through parents and grandparents etc, researching your family history is a way of bringing those stories and those people back to life.
In my family, for example, I knew that my grandmother was of illegitimate birth, quite a disgrace in late Victorian times. However after talking to various members of my family I was able to trace her family through the official records, censuses, birth marriage and death certificates, but more importantly I was able to detect the probable father and add a missing piece to my family history.
We actually had awfully little idea of my grandmothers origins, it ensued that some of the "facts" turned out to be wrong, her age and birthplace, for example. When my uncle registered her death he advised the registrar of the facts as he knew them; however her age was wrong by 2 years and her birthplace was wrong.

I am using my own family tree research as an example of the many pitfalls you will encounter when researching your family history. You will see plenty of advertisements on TV telling you how easy it is to trace your family tree, it is also very easy to make mistakes and take the wrong path when researching.
I have seen so many family trees based on guess work or duplicating wrong information from other publicly available family trees. On the surface it may seem fantastic to find that someone else is also researching the same family tree as you, it could save so much time ... or could it. My tips for researching your family history can be found here.
Based on my several years of experience I have decided to make my services available on a fully flexible and cost effective basis. I don't offer fixed price options; instead I prefer to look at each case on an individual basis, leaving you, the prospective client, to determine exactly how much time you want me to spend on your research, and to what level of detail you would like me to search and report. I also offer a totally free no obligation initial assessment of your requirements.
Please take a look at my Genealogy Research page for further details of how I work, and see how I can help you to research your family history.
